Granny: Guide to Single-Use Items and Their Locations

In DVloper’s game of the same name, surviving Granny’s wrath demands steely nerves and laser focus. You might lose sight of your main objective, which is to escape, as you rush from room to room looking for a place to hide before grandma notices you.

But in order to leave the house, you have to put tens of items together that are dispersed throughout the space. You are limited to holding and manipulating a single object at a time. Therefore, in order to flee while giving Granny your whole attention, you must be completely aware of your destination and your purpose at all times.

We have already covered the whereabouts and functions of keys in our previous two guides. We also covered the locations of weapons and other essential items that you use multiple times during a session. The remaining items in Granny’s house are listed below, along with potential spawn locations for each. These are one-time use items that have very specific uses in each game.

The Winch Handle. This is what you need to draw the bucket out of the backyard well. Possible locations for it include:

The secret Sewer Cell (Crossbow needed).
The safe in the Basement (Safe Key needed).
The Hidden Closet on the First Floor.
A cupboard in the Kitchen.
A wardrobe in the Study.

The Padlock Code. The following locations have the code that unlocks the Main Door’s Number Padlock:

A cupboard in the Kitchen.
A wall in the Meat Room.
A drawer in the Study.
The Main Hallway closet under the stairs (requires remote control)
A wall in the Sewers.

The Battery. This item is used to unlock a unique lock on the Main Door. You can find it in:

The Hidden Closet on the First Floor.
The Main Hallway closet under the stairs (requires remote control)
One of the cupboards in the Kitchen.
The chimney in the Crow Room.
The Hidden Area on the First Floor.

The Remote Control. This serves as a key to unlock the Main Hallway closet located beneath the stairs. It’s located in one of the following:

The Meat Room.

In the Bookshelf Room.

The Wrench. You will need the wrench to install the car engine part correctly if you plan to flee by vehicle. Keep an eye out for these spots:

Inside the microwave in the Kitchen.
On the TV table.
Inside drawers in the second Bedroom.
On the second floor, behind the jail ventilator (Cutting Pliers needed)

The Car Engine. One of the primary components needed for a car escape (needs to be tightened with a wrench) The Engine part can be found in:

On a shelf in the Jail Room (Hammer needed).
Inside the safe in the basement (Safe Key needed).
Inside the well bucket in the Backyard (Winch Handle needed).
On the TV table.
Underneath drawers in the second Bedroom.

The Spark Plug. The second item required for the car escape. Can be located in:

The Second Floor Spider Room (Requires Special Key and Meat)
The melon (which needs to be sliced at the backyard guillotine)
The Playhouse (Playhouse Key and two Cogwheels needed).
A drawer in the Study.
A drawer in the Hidden Area on the First Floor.

The Car Battery. The third thing that needs to go inside the vehicle in order to have a potential escape route Usually spawns at these locations:

The Main Hallway closet under the stairs (requires remote control)
The Sewer Cell (Crossbow or Shotgun needed).
The Safe in the Basement (Safe Key needed).
The Hidden Closet on the First Floor.
A drawer in the first Bedroom.

The Meat. In the Spider Room on the Second Floor, Granny’s playful spider needs to be diverted by this appetizing-looking chunk of raw meat (Special Key needed to access the room) However, you can only use the meat once for a 10-second distraction, unlike the Bird Seed. Should you fail to obtain what you require from the room within that time frame, you will need to use a crossbow or shotgun to eliminate the spider. You can find the Meat at these unusual locations:

In the sewer cell, on a table (shotgun or crossbow required)
In the Baby Room on the Second Floor (Hammer needed).
Inside the closet in the Crow Room (Hammer needed).
Inside a cupboard in the Kitchen.
Inside the locker in the Kitchen.

The Bird Seed. Food in the Crow Room that can divert the crow’s attention long enough for you to get the object out of the cage. Unlike spiders, crows do not kill you, and Bird Seed has an endless shelf life. Find the item in one of the following spots:

The closet in the Crow Room (Hammer needed).
The car trunk in the Garage (Car Key needed).
The locker in the second-floor Spider Room (Requires special key, meat, or crossbow/shotgun)
A table inside the Shed in the Backyard.
The locker in the Kitchen.

The Melon. Last but not least, the melon differs slightly from the other items in this list in that, despite having only one intended use—being sliced with a guillotine—it can actually grant the player a variety of rewards, such as the Master Key, the Spark Plug, the Playhouse Key, and the Padlock Key. This is where you can find the Melon:

On a workbench inside the Shed in the Backyard.
Inside the well bucket in the Backyard.
On the ground within the Sewer Cell (Shotgun or Crossbow required)
Inside the fridge in the Kitchen.
Inside the car trunk in the Garage (Car Key needed).

It is evident that memorizing all of these items, uses, and locations is not feasible in order to complete the game. However, you can pause the game, open this list, and identify which rooms, drawers, or tables you haven’t yet checked if you’re having trouble finding one of the latter. We advise learning rooms and routes rather than individual items because spawn locations are always changing. Planning your escape from every known spot on each floor is a good idea, as you’ll probably have to search the entire house for a way out anyhow.
