So Im entertaining the idea of getting a small group of society finches. I hear theyre easy for people who dont have tons of time for interaction and are pretty good apartment birds. I think theyre the cutest little things and would love to bring home a small group (after some more research of course).
My best friend stressed that I should adopt but I cannot find a rescue in the Portland, OR area that is carrying non-parrot birds. I know theres some bird shops (other than petco and petsmart) around but should I wait to adopt? I worry that Ill have to adopt multiple single birds and have to introduce them. I was hoping for six to eight (have the space for the cage thankfully!) and that seems like a very long process. While Id be happy to do it, I just worry for the birds.
So question boils down to: would it be a bad idea to buy a couple of finches from our local petsmart/petco or do I go to a local bird shop? Or do I just wait around for adoptions to pop up?

We only ship out healthy birds because we are extremely proud of the condition and care of our birds. Before each bird departs for its journey, we inspect it. Since it takes 24 to 48 hours for them to get from our local USPS office to yours, we only ship Monday through Wednesday and keep an eye on the weather in both locations because we want them to get to their new homes safely. We find that this is less stressful for them when you can go pick it up after your local USPS office notifies you when it arrives. Make sure there is plenty of water available when they get there so they can refuel after their journey. We must be notified within 48 hours of the arrival of your new feathered friend if for some reason it does not arrive safely. In the event of an emergency, we will require images of the ill or deceased After 48 hours, your new feathered friend is no longer in our care, so we cannot be held accountable if anything happens to them.
