2008–10: Ray Guns Are Not Just the Future and Interpreting the Masters Volume 1 edit
On September 26, 2011, The Bird and the Bee announced on their official Facebook page that they were no longer under contract with Blue Note Records. Additionally, they said, “The album’s release date is still unknown, but it will probably be in the early months of 2012.” [15] The pair made available “Wishes,” a digital-only Christmas single, on their website on November 18, 2011. [16].
“All Our Endless Love” by The Bird and the Bee was included on the Endless Love (2014) soundtrack. This was a joint project with Matt Berninger, and on February 11, 2014, the soundtrack album was released. [17] In July of the same year, they created a brand-new song called “Undone” for the Sex Tape soundtrack. [18].
George declared in April 2015 that a new album would be out in July of the same year. [19] The album was named Recreational Love and was released on July 17th. [20][21] “Will You Dance?”, the album’s lead single, was made available on May 5, 2015. [22].
George and Kurstin both appeared on the Foo Fighters song “Dirty Water” in September 2017, which is taken from the Kurstin-produced album Concrete and Gold. Kurstin played the synth and George provided the background vocals for the song. [23].
“Interpreting The Masters Volume 2: A Tribute to Van Halen” was published in August 2019.
Put Up The Lights, their Christmas album, was released on October 23, 2020 by No Expectations/Release Me Records. [24] On the song “Little Drummer Boy,” Dave Grohl plays drums.
History edit
The Bird and the Bee, the duo’s self-titled debut studio album, received favorable reviews upon its release on January 23, 2007[3]. AllMusic called the album “irresistible” and “charming and delightful at every turn.” [5].
