BoBo Bird watches have clasps made of stainless steel (304) for people who might be allergic to nickel. Your wood watch can be worn for many years to come with the right maintenance. The greatest threat to wood is abrupt variations in humidity and temperature. This means that if you leave your watch in your car on a hot, sunny day, the wood may swell and crack due to the high temperature. It’s also possible to break it at the pins and glass if you leave it in the car on a very cold day or night because the cold will shrink the wood and put pressure on those areas. Humidity control is also important. If there is too much, the wood will absorb the water and swell; if there is insufficient, the wood will dry out and shrink. The likelihood of cracking both now and in the future is increased by swelling and shrinking. Therefore, make sure your watch is inside and protected from excessive moisture or dryness when not in use by placing it in its original packaging or a watch or jewelry box. Furthermore, the best thing you can do for your watch’s wood is to ensure that it is properly conditioned and shielded from the elements. We suggest using either Tung Oil or Lemon Oil, which are available online or at hardware stores. Apply one teaspoon of your preferred oil to a gentle cloth, then use the cloth to lightly buff the wood’s surface. This will help to maintain the cleanliness and condition of your watch and bring out its shine.
Either of the following can be done to get your watch sized:
- It is advised that you have your watch sized by our staff before it is shipped. Just go to the watch’s page that interests you and select the “Custom Sizing” link, which is under the “Series Options” section.
- Bring your BoBo Bird watch to your favorite watch repair or jeweler, and they will size it for you.
When you receive your wood watch, make sure to read the included instruction card. Before wearing the watch, wind it at least fifteen to twenty times. If you wear the watch every day for at least eight hours, your daily activities should be enough to keep it wound after the first winding. If the watch is not moving enough or is worn inconsistently, it might need to be wound manually again. Because it’s a mechanical watch, don’t expect quartz watch accuracy. After the warranty has expired and your watch is consistently fast or slow even with correct winding and wearing, we advise you to take it to a trustworthy jeweler or watch repair shop to have the movement serviced. This should involve cleaning, lubricating, and regulating the watch.
Step 1: Pull out the crown. To set the time, turn the crown to cause the hands to advance (clockwise). Turn back to the same marker after setting the minute hand to be about five minutes ahead of the desired minute marker.
Step 2: Push the crown back to the “IN” position.

BOBO BIRD watches are considered to be splash proof. Common uses and wear include working in the kitchen, going to the beach, going to the gym, etc. However, it is not advised to fully submerge in water due to concerns for the movement’s integrity and the wood itself. An excessive amount of moisture exposure may cause the bands’ wood links to become less flexible. If this happens, give the watch a day or two to dry so the wood links can shrink back to their original size.
Indeed, on some models BOBO BIRD offers both watch and box engraving. The cost of customization is $35 for engraving your watch’s backplate and $45 for engraving the wooden watch box. It is possible to engrave standard text, uploaded graphics, handwritten notes, and company logos.
