You must pass the written falconry exam in order to be allowed to practice falconry. Here are some resources to help you study for the test: the Bibliography link When you’re prepared to take the test, please schedule an appointment by calling the local FWC Regional Office. Before a permit is granted, you must pass the exam with a minimum score of 80%.
In order to be accepted as an apprentice falconer, you need to find a sponsor falconer who is willing to train you for two years in a row and provide several thousand hours of official mentoring. You can work as an apprentice for a master falconer or a general falconer, who must have at least two years of general falconry experience.
Once you have passed the exam and have submitted an application, the FWC will assign the nearest Investigator to visit you and make an on-site inspection of your facilities, caging, and other required equipment.
