Ive had instances where the egg is floating there by itself and no nest to shoot (particularly in Lagras) aim for the egg, shoot it down and its been ok to collect for me. But use the varmint rifle (ive not tried arrows) psn: hakkido |

You have to shoot the nest. Move around the tree until you can see it. Sometimes it’s on a lower branch. I haven’t seen it since the naturalist update but sometimes the nest doesn’t spawn and the egg will just be floating in air.
