Military and Veteran License
Anywhere they are stationed, active-duty military personnel are eligible to purchase a resident hunting license. The free Texas Resident Active Duty Military “Super Combo” License and the free Texas Resident Active Duty Military Hunting Package are also available to active-duty military personnel who reside in Texas while they are on leave.
Veterans with a service-connected disability, both residents and non-residents of Texas, may be eligible for the free Disabled Veteran “Super Combo” License. The Federal Duck Stamp is a requirement for all hunters, 16 years of age and up, who hunt migratory waterfowl. The Texas Migratory Game Bird Endorsement is required for all hunters who are 17 years of age or older. Furthermore, hunters must provide documentation of their enrollment in the Harvest Information Program (HIP).
Hunting licenses are good from Aug. 15 through Aug. 31 of the next year. Texas residents are able to purchase a lifetime hunting license.
