Chuck (real name possibly Charles, simply known as Yellow Bird in earlier media) is one of the main characters in the Angry Birds franchise, often seen alongside Red and Bomb (and in the earlier years of the franchise, the Blues instead of Bomb) as an iconic trio. He is the best friend and right-wing bird of Red, and a core member of the main flock. Gifted with supernatural speed, Chuck is capable of running 100 mph (160 km/h) and even faster. His ability makes him a powerful ally in the war against the pigs, and like the rest of the birds, Chuck will do anything to protect the nest and his flock.
Aside from his speed, Chuck also regularly trains to become stronger. He defies his lack of limbs by being skilled in karate and wielding nun-chucks. In the slingshot games, he is especially effective against wood.
While at times Chuck may seem like a show-off whos incredibly full of himself (well, he can be), he is secretly very insecure, and fears that the flock will abandon him if hes not good enough, thus the need to constantly prove his worth, which has landed him in trouble on multiple occasions. His insecurities and overly-competitive nature has led to him having a one-sided rivalry with Bomb, due to his popularity. Despite his issues, Chuck has a heart of gold, and is a valued and respected member of the flock, even if he himself cant see it.
History[]
Chuck’s past is largely unknown prior to the events of the original Angry Birds game. His original look, showing two top feathers and dark eyebrows, was similar to Red (and again exclaiming “#”) and was much smaller in size. Later, this was altered to his final appearance, which included a mop of black feathers on top of his head that resembled hair.
He once saved Red in an Angry Birds Toons episode from a very high height. He transformed somehow, making him have an ultra speed boost.
Throughout the conflicts with the Pigs, he has visited a wide range of places and habitats, such as beaches, caves beneath the earth, and the desert. The Flock frequently has to retrieve its eggs on holidays and other special occasions because the Pigs never stop stealing eggs. Chuck was among the entire Flock that the Pigs once managed to capture. The Flock was only set free thanks to Terence, the Big Brother Bird’s actions.
A while later, the Flock—apart from Bomb, Matilda, Hal, Terence, Bubbles, and Stella—was apprehended as endangered birds and transported to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where they engaged in combat with Blu, Jewel, and their allies against Mauro and his marmosets, as well as Nigel the cockatoo.
In a different adventure, Chuck and the Flock used a wormhole to travel into space, where they battled the Space King to recover the eggs they had stolen and acquired superpowers.
Personal Data[]
Chuck is enthusiastic and arrogant. Being one of the most finicky Birds in the flock, he has always aspired to be the best of the bunch. In the opening scenes of Poached Eggs and Mighty Hoax, while The Flock examines the empty nest with question marks above their heads, Chuck exclaims a “#” sign (which indicates he is saying a censored bad word) after realising that the Bad Piggies stole their eggs.
After violently attacking a butterfly for landing on their eggs, Red, Chuck, Blue Jay, and Bomb were the first to notice that the Flocks eggs were missing in the animated game trailer.
Chuck is a practical joker who uses his fast-talking jokes to lighten up the Flock when he’s not fighting Pigs (which occasionally irritates Bomb). Another name for him is Maching Bird, which sums up both his extreme speed and his love of jokes. In the comics, he is portrayed as energetic and restless but also a little unsure of himself. He is the best friend and confidant of Red.
