does the audubon bird call work

A few years back we were all given a “pisher” by Ann Barker. Neil Donaghy the Welsh wizard of Celtic Bird Tours practised and practised. He decided he had become a maestro on his instrument and decided to demonstrate to some of his clients. Pwee- weeee-weeeee- wee went his pisher, pwee- weeee-weeeee- wee went all the rarities for 10 sq.kms in the opposite direction, never to be seen again . I have had the same success rate, in fact I have only heard rumours of misty characters of birding legend being accomplished pishers, I have still to witness the lost art. — Bill Alexander Scotlands On-Line Galleryhttp://www.scotmart.comhttp://www.proactnow.org/

I think youre forgetting (how apt!) that many members of the SBC are lacking – the second of those.

Or are u confusing dentures with clockwork teeth from the joke shop. Dentures are not a mechanical aid

I find that garden birds are often attracted by (what I presume is) the sound if the hose pipe that I use to refill drinking bowls and bird baths.

By turning the wooden cylinder against the cast zinc plug, the bird calls are audible. It is possible to accurately mimic a variety of bird sounds by twisting back and forth and varying the pressure between the two surfaces. The bird call, which was first developed by European songbird hunters, draws birds by giving the impression that other birds are nearby.

The original AudubonTM Bird Call comes in an eye-catching gift box and is offered in both natural birch and classic red finishes. Sturdy cast zinc and solid birch construction. Rosin capsule included to maintain the call’s distinctive chirp.

For more than 60 years, the Audubon Bird Call has been manufactured and adjusted by hand in the USA, earning it the respect of numerous generations of outdoor enthusiasts and birdwatchers.

Available as single units for $10. Red Birch color; 24 pack available for $6 per unit; quantity: add to cart

You seem to be overlooking (how appropriate!) the fact that many SBC members are deficient in the second of those

Or are you mistakenly associating joke shop clockwork teeth with dentures? Dentures are not a mechanical aid.

Many birds respond to playback of a typical song of their species as if a territorial intrusion were occurring—they approach the speaker from which the song is playing, fly around the sound’s source to look for the intruder, and emit their own threatening calls or songs.
