How to Draw a Blackbird – Step-by-Step Tutorial

Step 1: Let’s begin by drawing the head of the ubiquitous Black Bird, focusing primarily on the beak. For the beak, draw a rounded triangle, and for the head, leave a few rounded bits in the back.

Step 2: Draw the head by making a tiny, downward-curving line over the top. Next, draw a second straight line for the body that descends beneath the beak.

Step 3: Draw a long, smooth line downward on the back to create the Black Bird’s back. Bring it to the bottom to a point where the tail is.

Step 4: Draw a long, curved line from the neck down to the stomach.

Step 5: Sketch the leg by drawing the lower portion of a circle and then drawing two lines that extend downward. For the feet, add two pointed toes to the bottom of the leg.

Step 6: Create a straight line to add a second leg behind the first.

Step 7: Next, add the Black Bird’s long wings by creating a few sharp points in the feathers. Dont forget the other wing behind the body.

Step8: To create the tail feathers, now stretch out a few long lines. Keep a few feathery tips at the end.

Step 9: Color your Blackbird black from head to toe!

FAQ

What Colour is a female blackbird?

As the name suggests, male blackbirds are entirely black in colour. Females, however, are actually dark brown, with lighter brown streaks on the breast. Juveniles look similar to the fully-grown female but have copper streaks. Males have a bright yellow bill and distinctive yellow eye ring.

Are blackbirds good to have around?

What’s so bad about blackbirds? Blackbirds are “bully birds” that tend to harass other birds. They’re big birds and they like to push their weight around. If a flock of blackbirds decides to take over your backyard, other birds will tend to stay away.
